CASE STUDY 4 - LILY

Problem to be addressed with oils

Lily is very very reluctant to get in the car which is a Freelander with a large side opening tailgate. This is much worse on the owners own drive which is due to her friends Labrador jumping on her and frightening her on the driveway as she was getting in the car. Lily apparently screamed and appeared to have what the owner described as an anxiety attack, desperately panting and scratching at the car door to try and get away from the Labrador, the owner  ignored her thinking this was the best thing to do, but since that day she has had a problem with Lily and the car.

She runs into the house shaking as soon as her owner approaches her with the lead and she tries to hide behind furniture. When the lead is placed on, Lily tucks her tail tightly under her body and crawls beside her owner stress panting until she gets to the car and has to be lifted into the car. She then lies down looking very unhappy until the car starts to move. In other locations she will usually get in the car with relatively no problem.

I think that Lily is a normal healthy young dog who had a life experience which frightened her and left her nervous about getting into the car. My goal was to help her to release and deal with her memories of trauma of that incident in order to help her move on. I conducted a full kinesiology test on Lily to find out her weakness in energy and then worked with the oils to see what strengthened them. I sent the following oils to her owner and asked her to work with Lily every day.

Yarrow – helps to release past and present trauma and protects the heart.
Helichyrysm – helps to heal deep seated emotions and relieves nervous tension. Helps in cases of deep rooted stress related conditions which have left bruised emotions. Good for animals that have low self esteem, helps to loosen psychological knots restoring confidence in oneself.
Vanilla – has a soothing and relaxing effect and is indicated in over sensitive animals, thought to be linked to female hormone imbalance.
Comfrey macerate – Helps to build inner strength on an emotional level. Good for bruised emotions and long running emotional wounds that are simmering below the surface.

Summary of Lily’s Diary - I advised the owner to start  offering the oils to Lily in the house, because this is where she runs back to hide when she doesn’t want to get in the car. She started in the inner hall/kitchen, Lily would gently sniff at the oils, but would always keep a small distance between herself and the bottle. The owner slowly but surely moved every 3 or 4 days to a location nearer the car, until she was eventually sitting in the boot of the car with Lily sat beside her, and then eventually with Lily actually in the car.

Conclusion -Lily is a healthy, loving young dog with one major anxiety in life which was the car, which is not something she had had a problem with until an unfortunate incident with a Labrador. Her fear of the car had been getting worse and worse and her owner was beginning to struggle to lift her into the car because Lily was still growing and getting bigger and heavier. After working with the oils for 39 days Lily is now much happier with the car. She no longer cowers or runs and hides behind the furniture. She will follow her owner out to the  car without a lead and will now  jump into the car on her own. She is not totally happy about the car experience, but she is much happier than she used to be and now shows no signs of anxiety. Her owner is thrilled with the result as she no longer has to drag Lily to the car and doesn’t have to lift her in.
