About Me

Early Years
I have always loved
animals for as long as I can remember. My parents indulged my love and passion
for them by allowing me to have cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, Shaw’s Jirds, mice
and goldfish at various times. When I was 14 they bought me a horse. I owned
Twiggi for 12 years until she was an old lady. I competed her at low level
dressage, cross country, show jumping and long sponsored rides, as well as at
many pony club camps and events.
Post School
Years
When I left school
I worked with horses for a year as a groom and attained my BHS level one and
two, along with a pony club B test. I then attended the Berkshire College of
Agriculture in Burchett's Green and completed a year’s full time course in animal
care for which I achieved a distinction.
Further
Training in my early twenties
I joined my local
dog training school as an assistant instructor. Within a year I was on the
administration team for the school and became a fully qualified instructor
having attended a week long external course on instructing techniques.
In the following 4
years I attended several seminars all around the UK on behaviour and training, I
also achieved a credit on a human/canine interface home study course. During
this time I also attended 2 training courses in the USA working alongside Jack
and Wendy Volhard who are top trainers and authors.
My Home
Boarding Business 1995-2005
I started to build
a business in home boarding for dogs, where dogs would come and live in my house
along with my own 2 dogs which many owners prefer to putting them into kennels.
This business grew very successfully and before long I started to offer in-house
boarding and training.
I attended 3 more
courses in the USA, this time attending Wendy Volhard’s beginner and advanced
holistic camps. On these courses I learned about natural feeding, homeopathy,
stress and the endocrine system, five element system, Chinese medicine, Bach
flower remedies, chiropractic and general holistic ways of thinking.
This stimulated my
interest to learn more, and I attended several more seminars around the UK on
the subjects of holistic health. I also attended and achieved several courses
in small animal acupressure with Tallgrass acupressure school, which furthered
my knowledge in the five element and meridian field.
Further
Training
In 2006 and 2007 I
decided to do further training in the holistic field. I studied Canine Sports
Massage with Caninenergy and achieved a certificate of foundation in canine
sports massage. I then attended 2 different reiki master courses, one with Jill
Miller in Crowthorne and the other with Paula Whitaker in Cranham in
Gloucestershire.
I attended Geota
(Guild of essential oil therapists for animals) for a year to attain a diploma
in animal aromatherapy. Alongside this I trained with Caroline Ingraham in
animal aromatics, which encompasses essential oil therapy, fixed and macerated
oils, powders and tinctures . Caroline is the leading expert in the field of
animal aromatherapy and aromatics. I achieved a distinction on her diploma
course.
New Animal
Business
With this further
training I will be able to offer a Complete Consultancy to include Dog Training
– private one to one, Reiki, Canine Massage and most importantly Nutrition &
Health.
