CASE STUDY 7 – SACHA
Background information - There are two issues to be addressed with Sacha, the first one is that she displays aggression when ever anybody tries to handle her. Although the owner has worked on this and Sacha has improved slightly, she still can only hold her for a few seconds and she always has her claws out ready to scratch. The second issue is that she does not appear to have ever bonded with any of the owners other cats, since having been rescued and brought back from Spain. Her owner perceives that she does not know how to integrate and relate to the others, and that she is a loner not by choice, but by lack of understanding of how to become a part of the family with everyone else. My thoughts on Sacha -I feel that Sacha is quite an emotional cat. Not a lot is known of her life in Spain, or why she ended up in a rescue. But what is clear from the owner is that she is not a happy cat, and appears to have a lot of repressed anger, and is unable to socialize easily with the other cats, and seems distrustful of being picked up by humans, and is always on the defensive about this. Her owner sent my some of Sacha’s hair and I conducted a kinesiology test and came up with the following oils to strengthen her weak energies. I sent them to her owner and asked her to work with Sacha every day and report back to me. Yarrow – releases past and present trauma and helps to protect the heart. Lemon – uplifting oil. Excellent for depression, general fatigue and issues of trust. Rose hydrosol – Rose is comforting and soothing and often used for depression especially where there is past abuse/traumka. Very useful if the animal is aggressive and hold anger within. Potent antidepressant. Comfrey macerate – helps to build strength on an emotional level. Good for bruised emotions and long running emotional wounds that are simmering below the surface. Summary of Sacha’s Diary - Sacha’s biggest reaction was to the rose hydrosol, she regularly wanted to scent around the bottle and on a couple of occasions licked some off the owners finger. Her next favourite was the Yarrow, and again she wanted to scent the bottle a couple of times and wanted to lick the top of the bottle. She took a while to really get into the lemon, she had a couple of mini trances but just seemed to keep a little distance between herself and the bottle. Conclusion - The owner is thrilled with the result from the oils. In her words “ Sacha is a much happier cat, she is joining in with the other cats more. She will lie on the bed with all the cats and her owner, which she has never ever done before. She has stopped being reclusive, and is now ‘hanging out’ in the rooms where the other cats or her owner are, she is generally appearing much more content. She is a lot easier to handle, she is not nearly as defensive as she was, and does not have her claws out ready to attack when being held. She has begun to play with one of the other female cats, which is something she has never done.
